Trimethylaminuria is a rare disorder in which the body unable to break down the chemical trimethylamine. Trimethylamine has a very strong smell, similar to that of rotting fish. In people with trimethylaminuria, trimethylamine builds up in the body, causing it to give off a strong fish-like odour.
