Mysterious Island (UK: Jules Verne s Mysterious Island) is a 1961 science fiction adventure film about prisoners in the American Civil War who escape in a balloon and then find themselves stranded on a remote island populated by giant and tiny animals. The film serves as a showcase for Ray Harryhausen s stop motion animation effects. The film s music was composed by Bernard Herrmann who had already scored two previous Harryhausen and Schneer productions (The 7th Voyage of Sinbad and The 3 Worlds of Gulliver). La isla misteriosa (Mysterious Island) es una película britanoestadounidense de 1961 de los géneros de aventura, ciencia ficción y fantasía basada en la novela homónima de Julio Verne. La película fue dirigida por Cy Endfield, y contó con los efectos especiales de Ray Harryhausen y con la actuación de Michael Craig, Joan Greenwood, Michael Callan, Gary Merrill y Herbert Lom.
