A Brief History of the Qur an - Class 5 - Part 2 of 8 (ITQAN Summer 2020) This course was offered by ITQAN during the summer of 2020, and was taught by Shaikha Khadeejah Akyurt over the span of two weeks, four days a week. This a standalone course that enriches the students and teachers of the Qur’an and provides a platform for further learning in the topics of the sciences of the Qur’an. Mature teenagers have also found it useful in answering the question: How do we know with absolutely no doubt that the Qur’an is Allah’s word? Topics include: Preserving the Qur’an during the life of prophet Muhammad (PBUH), then during the khilafah of Abu Bakr (RAA), Othman (RAA), and during first Hijri century, as well as an overview of The ten reciters and their chains of narration till today, and studying a few Qur’anic manuscripts from each period until modern day printed Mushafs. Material: The PowerPoint presentation was made available to students and it is the only required material for the course. The course had daily homework, a midterm, and a final exam. Instructor: Khadeejah Akyurt is founder and director of ITQAN, and holds two ijazahs in the 10 Qira’aat. She has taught this course in person many times, and has also authored a book, Tajweed Diagrams containing this material among other topics of tajweed and available on Amazon.
