Javier calls in wanting to share some Bible verses he finds useful when encouraging Christians to question their faith. He first mentions a verse in Exodus where Moses asks to see God but is denied because no one can see God s face and live. Javier argues this shows we can t fully understand or comprehend God. He also references Jacob being renamed Israel after wrestling with an angel, saying Israel means struggling with God. So the Bible says God s chosen people struggle with Him. Matt and Jimmy push back hard. They argue Javier is misinterpreting these stories and twisting their meanings. The Exodus verse says nothing about not understanding God, only that seeing Him would lead to death. And Jacob s name change had nothing to do with struggling conceptually with God. Matt explains you can t apply special rules for Bible heroes universally. So even if Jacob questioning was permitted, that allowance wouldn t extend to everyone. After extended debate, Javier maintains some find these useful but concedes they likely won t convince stalwart believers.
