Former Australian naval officer and underwater surveyor Peter Waring, who took part in the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, says they had “next to nothing” in terms of information as to where the plane could be. “It was an extraordinarily difficult thing to do; we had such little information about where the aircraft was,” he told Sky News Australia. “At various points, we made it seem as though we had a very good sense of where it was, but that just wasn’t the case. “We had more or less next to nothing.” Next month marks 10 years since MH370 disappeared. Australian authorities were involved in the search mission, which made for the biggest and most expensive in history. It was ultimately a failure, with the whereabouts of the plane remaining unknown.
