One of the world’s smallest fish, measuring just 12 millimetres long, can make a sound more than 140 decibels – about the loudness of firecrackers being set off. Danionella cerebrum are a tiny species of fish that are native to small streams along the Bago Yoma mountain range in Myanmar. Adult fish usually measure between 10 to 13.5 millimetres in length and have the smallest known brain of any vertebrate in the world. Male D. cerebrum are also known to produce noisy drumming sounds.
