In order to unlock him for free, you will need to reach Episode Rank 35 by playing different missions throughout the map and then beat the Brainiac battle called Rescue The Joker? This should take approximately 6-8 hours of gameplay. Reaching Episode Rank 35 will also unlock Mastery Levels.
