Northern Australia Correspondent Matt Cunningham says Prime Minister Anthony Albanese “deserves some credit” for his visit to Alice Springs in January 2023. Mr Cunningham’s remarks come after the Prime Minister faced backlash for the brevity of his visit to Central Australia. “He deserves some credit,” Mr Cunningham told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “He at least forced the Northern Territory government’s hand when he made that visit to Alice Springs last January and reversed the … nonsensical decision to allow alcohol to return to Aboriginal town camps in Alice Springs and other parts of the Northern Territory. “We saw the carnage that decision caused.”
