Tesla released the refresh Model 3 some time ago. With its official roll out globally, there was one model noticeably absent, and that was the Performance Model 3. While the Model 3 RWD and LR AWD have been selling here in North America for a few months now, there has been little to no talk from Tesla on the status or certainty of the Performance Model 3. That all said, there was really no doubt that we would see the Performance Model 3 come back, it was just a matter of time and details. There were questions around how this refresh Model 3 Performance would pan out on paper though as there are unknowns about how it will compare to the previous generation. All these questions have finally been answered, and without any notice, you can now order, and within a couple weeks, take delivery of a brand new refresh Model 3 Performance. With an order window of a month, it would seem Tesla will be shipping these Performance models quickly as they start to ramp production. The return of the Performance Model 3 will come with some new updates beyond the standard refresh that we have seen with the Model 3 RWD and LR AWD. In addition to the normal updates, this performance model will come with carbon fiber inserts, new forged wheels, upgraded suspension and chassis, brand new performance seats, front and rear performance facia, and more. From a performance perspective, we are looking at 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, 510 hp, 163 MPH top speed and a range of 296 miles. This makes the new Performance Model 3 faster than ever, and will come with the new comfort features like cooled seats and second screen for rear passengers. Quite possibly the best part of the refresh Model 3 Performance is the price. Coming in at $52,990, the standard price is in the ballpark of what we had hoped for. Since the batteries are still compliant, that price makes the Performance Model 3 EV Tax Credit eligible, meaning it qualifies for the full $7,500 tax credit.
