While the first film focused on exposition, director Denis Villeneuve says Dune: Part Two will be more of a straightforward action film. “The first movie was more meditative and contemplative. We were following a young man discovering a new planet, a new culture,” Villeneuve said in Total Film magazine. “The second movie . . . it’s more of an action film than the first part. It’s more muscular.” One of the most buzzworthy scenes from the Dune: Part Two trailer is when Paul rides one of the giant sandworms. Villeneuve mentioned how Dune Part: Two was shot with IMAX cameras to capture these impressive action sequences. “It was, by far, one of the most technically complex scenes I have done in my life,” Villeneuve said when describing the worm-rising scene.
