When you find yourself living out of a place of realized or unrealized guilt, anger, fear or stress, this means your body and mind are listening to your limbic brain. This is when you make decisions based on how you feel. A few important things to note: 1. People with Complex Trauma predominately live out of their limbic brain 2. They must learn how to harness, calm and relax the limbic brain so that they can make decisions using their pre-frontal cortex The limbic brain is like your “survival brain”. Decisions are based on what brings you instant gratification, instant safety, instant feelings of connection.
