In this video Amelia checks out the 2022 Toyota GR Yaris Rallye. A Gazoo Racing rally inspired hot hatch. The engine is a 1.6-litre single-scroll turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine which produces 200kw of power and 370 Nm of torque. Fuel consumption is listed as 7.6 litres per 100km. The engine is paired with a 6 speed ‘intelligent’ manual gearbox, with no automatic option on offer yet. The McPherson strut suspension in this Rallye is even further upgraded from the Yaris GR. And it has high performance Michelin tyres, that actually noticeably give more grip and control in higher speed driving. 0-100km will take you just 5.2 seconds. The recommended retail price for the Yaris GR in this $54,500 and for that money you get a very specific hot hatch. The GR Yaris sits in a slighty different category to some of it s main rivals like the Polo GTI, Hyundai i20N and Ford Fiesta ST.
