Wow theres so much I want to say about this game, but lets just start by saying I fuckin love the game. It shows that even old games with stuff like Speed up/down powerups and chain deaths can be made with a lot of interesting mechanics and ways to keep the player engaged in a fair fight through their play time. I cleared this live on twitch but unfortunately my game sound had a delay on it, and it was really awful, so I redid the clear here :) It was a scuffed run but still managed to pull out the W! Things I love about this game: Player ship creativity and strength! you get 3 different ships types and you can transform between them at will, and it is a nice and fast transformation. each ship has a power/blue weapon and a utility/red weapon. Red seems to be better overall at saving your ass. All 3 ships also have different bombs. you got a spread bomb that deletes bullets but does NOT make you invul. you got a black hole bomb that sucks in enemies and bullets in an interactive way, and you ve got a teleport melee bomb (best one) that can do damage AND get you out of trouble. Stage transitions, with the ground opening, stage being blown up, tiles falling away, all that, the incredible different kinds of scrolling, you ve got this sway scrolling, you have player based sideways scrolling. Enemies often show their position or the stage gives you things you can often react to, there s very little in the way of memo bullshit in comparison to its contemporaries, stages flow intuitively.
