( 42332 viewed : 3089 like : 231 comments ) Every day, Japan Post’s Sasahara-san climbs roughly 20,000 steps on his delivery route in Yamagata, including a steep hike to reach one lonely mailbox on the mountaintop of Yamadera Temple (Risshaku-ji Temple). In this episode, I followed him for a day to see the dedication, tradition, and challenges of Japan’s Postmen — while also showing the incredible beauty of Yamadera in the fall. 🍁 It’s a story of commitment, community, and why something as simple as a daily pickup can inspire.
Yamadera is a 3.5 hour trip from Tokyo via the Yamagata Shinkansen and local train from Yamagata Station.
